A Real-Life Surprise Proposal at Falls Creek Falls
I recently had the honor of capturing B + A’s surprise proposal at Falls Creek Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. B had planned for a quiet and intimate moment on a new-to-them hike for the proposal. Both of them love the outdoors and get out on hikes in the region on a regular basis. Falls Creek Falls had also been a bucket list hike for them to check out, so B felt like it was the perfect opportunity to propose.
Though Falls Creek Falls is typically a very busy trail, especially during the summer time, there was a predicted 1-2″ of rain that was supposed to fall this day. Causing people to stay home and off of the local trails. Even though it was a soggy day, it honestly worked out really well and they pretty much had the whole trail to themselves.
As their photographer, I sneakily followed them from the parking lot to their end destination at the falls. I made sure that I was dresses like an “average hiker” to blend in as much as possible while hiking on the trail. The few times that they stopped to enjoy the view along the way I made sure to slow my pace and keep my distance in order to not give myself away.
In the end, A was completely surprised. Not only about the proposal, but that there was a photographer following them the whole hike and was capturing the moment and candids along the way.
