Why investing in your photographer matters

There are so many benefits to investing in an elopement photographer. It’s so much more than just about showing up the day of your elopement to take the pictures. I want to be sure to document the two of you as authentically as I can and help you every step of the way to craft an unforgettable elopement day.

I enjoy chatting with clients prior to the big day to help with things like location and activity recommendations, assistance with obtaining permits if needed, crafting a custom timeline, and so much more!

Let’s start brainstorming how we can make your elopement an unforgettable experience!

Wondering how to spend your elopement day?

  • 4x4 off-roading

  • backpacking

  • birdwatching

  • camping/glamping

  • candlelit ceremony

  • canoeing/kayaking/SUPing

  • exploring a national park or state park

  • fishing

  • foraging for mushrooms and other edible plants

That entirely depends on what brings the two of you together! Maybe you want to do one of your favorite activities together? Or even explore a bucket list location or National Park? There’s an endless list of possibilities and activities to do in the PNW, here’s some fun ideas to get your creative juices flowing that can fit into your day.

  • helicopter/airplane ride

  • hiking

  • hot air balloon ride

  • horseback riding

  • identifying plants

  • overlanding

  • picnic

  • spending time with pets

  • wine/beer tasting

Benefits of Elopements + Micro Weddings

Elopements and micro weddings aren’t for everyone, but for certain people there can be multiple reasons to consider the option of going less traditional. Some possible benefits may include:

  • Less stress for you and your partner.

  • No family pressure.

  • Reduced cost by cutting out venue, production and performance expenses.

  • A day focused entirely on you and celebrating your love!

Things I wish I would have known going into my own elopement:

Since I myself eloped (yes, that picture is from my own elopement back in 2015!) I learned first hand a thing or two about eloping. Combine that personal experience with all the elopements I have photographed and I have definitely learned a few things over the years.

Here are my three main takeaways:

  • 1. We can’t control the weather, but we can make the most of the experience and still have a great time!

  • 2. It’s always good to be prepared with a plan A, B and C for your locations/actives you’d like to do during the day.

  • 3. Take time to pause and soak in the moments and views through out the day.

Questions Answered:

  • Feel free to get in touch and this will be one of the first things I’ll help you figure out. There’s a lot of factors that go into planning how much coverage you need and every wedding/elopement is different.

I offer a free consult call before you decide whether you’d like to book or not. This is when we can go over details of your day and I’ll help you pick the right package to fit your needs - you can always add more hours of coverage later in the process as well.

  • Of course! I absolutely love helping couples find the perfect venue or location to exchange their vows. I like to send couples a questionnaire or hop on a phone call to help you dream up a vision for your day. From there I’ll put together and send you both the very best location ideas.

I’m happy to be as hands on with this step of the planning process as you’d like me to be. Most frequently couples have a general area in mind and I’ll provide a few of my favorite spots within that area.

  • Absolutely. I will help you research who to contact to figure out if your elopement location requires any kind of special use permits. Most frequently this is the case with National Parks.

  • Sure do. You’ll gain access to my vendor recommendations list and I’ll be available to craft a custom timeline for your day if need be. Consult calls are included in all of my packages, so we can discuss logistics for your day and get everything dialed in. That way things are all planned out and you don’t even have to worry about a thing on the day of your elopement!

  • Definitely. I’m super familiar with the majority of the Pacific Northwest and would be happy to share my go-to restaurants as well as Airbnbs in the region. If I’m not super familiar with the area I’m happy to do some research for you and ask around to get some insight and recommendations.

  • You are in no way obligated to hike on your elopement day, you can pretty much do whatever you two decide. Some couple love incorporating hiking, and other’s want an easier way to get to beautiful views. For example just finding a pull off on a scenic road with a viewpoint, which some of my eloping couples have done.

If you DO want to hike in your wedding attire there is multiple ways to go about this. You can embrace the dirt and sweat, slip on your hiking shoes and hit the trail. I honestly love the dirt and grunge that comes with hiking in wedding attire.

Or, another alternative is to pack your wedding attire on the hike and you can change right before you say your vows. I’m happy to carry some of the load on the trail as well.

  • 100%! I always shoot with two camera bodies on a harness. I’ve never had a piece of my gear malfunction, but I have a backup on hand in case anything unexpected happens.

  • I’m not anti-Photoshop, BUT I personally want the photographs I capture to be as close as possible to the real memories that are created. I’m happy to do very minor image alterations such as removing a couple pimples, but I personally don’t do any kind of slimming/wrinkle removing/braces removing/etc.

  • You’ll gain access to an online gallery where you, and if you’d like friends/family, can download your high resolution images or order prints!

  • Of course you can! I include printing rights in all of my contracts.

That being said, not all print shops or websites are going to be equal when it comes to print quality. A lot of places will print things with off colors, greenish or yellow hues, too much contrast, etc. I would hate for a client to receive prints like this, but it does unfortunately happen.

I highly recommend that you order your prints through me if you want to be sure your images come out perfectly and exactly how they’re supposed to. I make this super easy for clients! When you receive your online gallery you’ll have the opportunity to pick which images and what sizes of prints or products you’d like to order.

  • It entirely depends on where you are getting married (what state) and if you want an actual celebrant to verbally walk you through your ceremony! I’m an ordained officiant and can legally sign your marriage license, but some states require additional paperwork.

If you do want to hire an officiant/celebrant I’m happy to offer some recommendations!
